You want to demonstrate that you respect the courtroom and that you are
taking the charges you face with absolute sincerity. Although most lawyers
suggest that their clients dress in business attire, some clients continue
to appear in court dressed as they were headed to the beach or ready for
a night out in the town. It’s a no-brainer that you should also
be clean and maintain proper hygiene.

What Men Should Wear
The general rule of them is to dress conservatively. A solid charcoal or
navy suit with a white shirt and coordinating tie seems the most appropriate.
If you do not have a suit to wear, a sports coat over a long-sleeve button-down
shirt and long slacks will suffice. Wear a belt or suspenders to keep
up your pants.
Make sure you wear clothes which fit. If you have recently gained or lost
a lot of weight, please purchase something new for your courtroom appearance.
Avoid wearing t-shirts, sleeveless shirts, shorts, athletic shoes, flip-flop

What Women Should Wear
Similar to men, you should appear professional by dressing conservatively.
Wear neutral, pastel colors and plain or floral patterns.
A business suit or a pants suit are the most appropriate options. If you
do not have either of those, a conservative top and long slacks is another
suitable combination. Dresses and skirts must be no more than two inches
above the knee.
